Introduction Open Day 2th April 2011 Costs £35.00 10.00am - 5.00pm

We hope to be able to explain to you, during the course of the day, something of the nature of the honey bee and how it can be kept and managed.

We will describe to you the techniques involved in keeping bees healthy and how you can look after them safely and in harmony with your family and heighbours

The Benefits of keeping bees will be explained including the importance of pollination and how to harvest the honey and wax products that your bees will provide

The afternoon is spent at an adjoining apiary opening up a hive to examine the bees and combs

 

 

The session will provide you with the opportunity to examine a beehive under the supervision of a beekeeper
